Back home to racing in the western district on Sunday with a return to the live hedges and open country at Casterton for the penultimate jumps meeting in Victoria this year.
What a huge day of jumps racing at Ballarat on Sunday on what will be a Heavy 10+ surface (similar to this day last year). You will need hard fit horses that can certainly handle the very heavy conditions. [Read more…] about Ballarat Jumps Racing Preview – 20th Aug
Back to a Saturday TAB meeting in the south west – how sweet it is! The very picturesque track at Coleraine is currently rated a Soft 6 and its been a relatively fine, breezy day today so may even be on the better side of that but there is rain forecast for Saturday. This track with its sandy base copes with rain well, hence the club has been the beneficiary of several transferred meetings from higher profile clubs over recent seasons. Terrific acceptances were received for the meeting and full fields will be the order of the day, which should ensure some value!
Only two jumps races on the program for Sunday at Sandown Lakeside but what two great fields that have been drawn together for the time honoured Crisp Steeplechase and the main event, the Grand National Hurdle. We’ll see two of the great jumpers of the last few years go around in Wells and Sea King. At the time of preparing this preview the track is rated a Good 4, but with some rain forecast which hopefully arrives as a slight downgrade wouldn’t hurt for the jumpers.
Bendigo Jumps Races Selections – Sunday 23 July

Looking forward to a great day of jumps racing at Bendigo on Sunday where it will be even more interesting with some of these runners getting back onto drier ground than a couple of recent meets, with the track currently rated a Soft 6. The four jumps races will be highlighted by the Brendan Dreschler Hurdle and Mosstrooper Steeplechase where we will see two of the stars this season in action in Renew and Zed Em respectively, but they’ll both face tough opposition and there are two other open Hurdle races in support. My views are as follows:
